To get his sisters to play sports with him, Patrick had to appease them by playing with dolls as well as games of house, where he was the perpetual father.
Patrick has had only one hockey fight—in high school, against Carter Camper in an U-17 game. The fight was a draw.
Patrick was named OHL Rookie of the Year for the 2006-07 season. He also made the OHL All-Star team.
Patrick was named Canadian Major Junior Rookie of the Year 2007.
