Dirk was named German Basketballer of the Year in 1998 at the age of 20.
Dirk was the NBA’s fourth German player. He followed Uwe Blab, Christian Welp and Detlef Schrempf.
In 2000–01, Dirk became the second player in history to reach triple-figures in 3-pointers and blocked shots in the same season. Robert Horry was the first to do so.
At the 2000 NBA All-Star Game, Dirk became the tallest player ever to participate in the 3-Point Shootout. He made 15 in a row in the first round but ended up second overall to Jeff Hornacek.
Dirk was the first Maverick ever voted to the end-of-season All-NBA squad. He was honored for the first time on the Third Team in 2001.
In 2002, Dirk was named MVP of the FIBA World Championship of Basketball. He led Germany to the bronze medal.
Dirk had his first NBA triple-double in 2008 game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Dirk became Dallas’s all-time leading scorer in 2008. He surpassed Rolando Blackman.
In 2009, Dirk was named First Team All-NBA for the fourth time.
Dirk reached the 20,000-point plateau in 2010.
Dirk played in his 10th consecutive All-Star Game in 2011.
After winning the NBA Championship in 2011, Dirk led Dallas fans in a memorable off-key rendition of "We Are The Champions."
