In the spring of 1996, Pat became the first freshman in Miami history to win the NCAA batting title.
Pat ended his three-year career at Miami with some impressive stats, including a .442 batting (7th in NCAA history), an .888 slugging percentage (2nd in NCAA history) and a school-record 61 home runs. He also won the 1998 Golden Spikes Award.
Pat hit three home runs in an International League playoff game in 1999. He was robbed of a fourth when his soaring liner struck a bird and fell for a single.
With the Class-AA Reading Phillies, Pat batted .333 with 28 home runs. He joined Greg Luzinski as the only other Reading player to hit at least 25 HRs while hitting better than .320.
When Pat blasted two home runs in a June 2000 game against the Mets, he became the second Phillies rookie to accomplish the feat. The other was Mike Schmidt, in 1973.
Pat reached the 100-RBI plateau before the end of August in 2002. He was first Phillie to do so since Luzinski in 1977.
In 2006, Pat led the NL with 4.62 pitches seen per at-bat.
In 2007, Pat surpassed Chipper Jones and Barry Bonds as the leading active "Met Killer" with his 41st home run.
Pat got his 200th home run and 1,000th hit during the 2007 season.
In 2008, Pat became only the second Phillie to post 20-plus homers eight years in a row. Mike Schmidt is #1 with 14.
When Pat returned to Philadelphia for an exhibition "re-match" series in April of 2009, he received a standing ovation from the fans. He homered off Cole Hamels in the second game. In his first game in Philly as a member of the Giants, he homered in a game that counted.
In 2010, Pat passed Brooks Robinson at the home run champion among Arkansas-born major leaguers.
During the 2010 NLCS, Philadelphia fans saw Pat and some teammates out to dinner. They tried to bribe a waiter to put a laxative in Pat’s food.
Pat and Lenny Dykstra are the only Phillies to homer twice in a playoff game.
Pat is one of only five NL players to homer twice in a pennant-clinching game. The others are Steve Garvey, Johnny Bench, Fred McGriff and Carlos Beltran.
For a big man, Pat uses a surprisingly small bat. His weapon of choice is an M110 Louisville Slugger—34” in length and weighing 32 ounces.
A few weeks after the 2007 season ended, Pat married Michelle Fonseca.
Pat made headlines with an interview in the May 2001 issue of Penthouse. Among his many revelations was that he doesn't wear underwear.
